Think it's just about finding some matches? Think again. Follow our GIF guide to lighting up the end of your Christmas dinner
Whether you're picked up a shop-bought Christmas pudding or made your own, no Christmas dinner is complete without one. But if you really want a special end to your meal, you need to know how to light it properly. Luckily, we have a step-by-step guide that'll tell you exactly how to do that. Save some room after the turkey and dig in...
Make sure you have all the key ingredients to hand. You’ll need some brandy, a ladle, something to heat the ladle and, of course, the delicious Christmas pud.
Pour out 2 tbsp brandy into the ladle.
Carefully heat the ladle over a flame to warm the brandy, making sure not to hold your hand too near to the flame – that’s a surefire way to ruin Christmas Day. Heat the ladle for around 20 seconds, otherwise the brandy may not light and you’ll be left with a very soggy pudding.
Gently tilt the ladle so that the brandy catches on fire. Be careful not to tip the ladle too much, otherwise you’ll end up covering your candle in brandy.
Turn the lights down low, get your best “oohhs” and “ahhhs” ready and pour the brandy over the pudding.
Once the flames have fully faded, tuck in!
