As most mums know, a sandwich rarely suffices when it comes to filling the little ones’ tums at lunchtime. These quick additions will bulk out their lunchbox without adding much time to your day
1. Veggies and dip
An easy way to get your kids to eat their veggies – slice carrots, cucumber and celery lengthwise and pack with either houmous or tzatziki for dipping.
2. Sugar snap peas
You might usually throw them into a stirfry, but raw sugar snaps make a delicious sweet snack with satisfying crunch.
3. Apple slices with peanut butter
Your kids will love the savoury/sweet combo of this light snack. Simply cut large chunks of apple and spread peanut butter generously on top. You can also try this with sliced celery too.

4. Wholegrain bites
The kids will think they have crisps in their lunchbox but you’ll know that these wholegrain bites are a healthier alternative.
5. Melon and pineapple chunks
Slice melon and pineapple into bite-sized chunks for a touch of tropical goodness in their lunches.
6. Ham and cheese wrap n’ rolls
Pack a serving of deli ham or turkey with thinly sliced cheese that your child can wrap together and eat with their hands.
7. Trail mix with a twist
Add unsalted popcorn together with almonds, walnuts and pecans that your child can eat straight from a sandwich bag. If you fancy, add raisins or their favourite dried fruit to the mix too.

8. Avocado crackers
Replace cheese with avocado for this quick snack. Slice thin pieces of ripe avocado, squeeze with lemon to prevent browning, and serve between two wholegrain crackers.
Grapes were made for grazing, so pop in a handy-sized grab bag for the kids to nibble on at lunchtime or as an afternoon snack.
