Strawberries and cream? Nah. This is how to give your berries a match-winning makeover
We’re gearing up for the Wimbledon final this weekend but you know what? We’re over strawberries and cream. Not over the actual fruit, as they’re deliciously sweet right now and in season, but we’re just a bit “meh” about serving them up the traditional way.
So while the champs battle it out on the court, we’ll be heading to the kitchen to serve up (pun fully intended) some of these ingenious twists on everyone’s favourite summer berries.
Perfect for this baking hot weather, these little frozen yogurt buttons are studded with a sliced strawberry making it a great refresher between sets (while you're sitting on the sofa, that is).
Everyone will love assembling this sweet version of a burrito – and it's stuffed with strawbs, marshmallows, banana and Nutella. Far more exciting than the plain old banana that tennis players will be munching courtside.
It wouldn’t be Wimbledon without a bit of Pimm's, served with copious strawberries. So check out this twist: freeze it, and make the boozy summer drink into a granita. Super sweet and handy if it hits the high temperatures again.
Maybe you’ve moved on from the Pimm's to the bubbly stuff – in which case, you’re going to love these jellies, which are pepped up with a dash of elderflower cordial and everyone’s favourite fizzy drink.
Strawberries and black pepper sounds like it shouldn’t work, but it does, you know. With some extra heat from some cinnamon, the berries are given a spicy makeover but the heat is cooled with a creamy panna cotta.
Mess with everyone’s heads and hand out these carrots at the end of the match. Look! They’re actual carrots!*
*They’re actually not – they’re covered in white chocolate and decorated. Aren’t you the joker?
