Including GIANT chocolate profiteroles. Yes, you heard
We know leftover Yorkshire puddings are a rare sight, but we've got some sweet dish ideas that'll make you want to bake extra this Sunday. Foodies, say hello to Yorkshire pudding desserts.
It may sound an odd prospect, but Yorkies are basically a flavour carrier, and their ability goes beyond the savoury Sunday world of gravy-smothered pigs in blankets.
Still don't believe us? Here are five fabulous desserts you can make from your leftover Yorkshire puds. They may even beat that homemade crumble...
Giant chocolate profiteroles
Real crowd pleasers. Carefully melt two bowls of chocolate, one white chocolate and one milk chocolate. Dip one Yorkie into one of the bowls until it's evenly covered and pop it in the fridge to cool. While you're waiting, whip up some double cream until thick. Spoon the cream into a second Yorkie. Once your chocolate lid has cooled and set, you can drizzle with the other chocolate or just sandwich together with its creamy bottom. Repeat, and balance on a plate in the middle of the table – then wait for everyone to argue over who gets the biggest...
Cheat's apple and pear crumble
Another incredibly speedy dish. Combine sugar and chopped fruit in a pan – we used apples and pears – as you would a crumble. Cook until the fruit is all soft and delicious, then add nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla or star anise if you fancy it. All you have to do now is grab your Yorkshires and spoon in the fruit, top with granola and serve with a lovely scoop of vanilla ice cream and a tipple of your choice. Bosh.
Fresh vanilla custard, blackberries and sticky grilled banana
Of course you can make the custard from scratch, but the fresh stuff is equally as brilliant. Simply heat it up while grilling some bananas on a griddle pan – we like to dust ours in cinnamon sugar first to make them extra sweet and sticky. Pile them on top of the Yorkshires and hot custard, top with fresh blackberries and dig on in.
Yorkshire pudding ice cream sundae with honeycomb
If you find an easier pud, call us. Simply top warm Yorkshires with vanilla gelato for an ice cream sandwich 2.0 and top with crushed chocolate honeycomb. Serve on one sharing plate with two spoons for extra smug.
Cinnamon glazed Yorkie doughnuts
Make some icing using icing sugar and water and add ½ tsp cinnamon. Drizzle over your Yorkshire, then mix 3 tsp brown sugar with ½ teaspoon of cinnamon and sprinkle over the top. Serve with an affogato after a lazy weekend lunch.
