It might cost a small fortune but this is in-flight food for the super-rich
When you’re used to tucking your knees behind your ears to squeeze into an aeroplane seat, a first class ticket seems like the height of luxury. That is, until now.
Say hello to Singapore Airline’s Suites. Better than first class (or our homes for that matter), it even has a double bed.
Travel blogger Derek Low recently cashed in his air miles for an $18,400 (nearly £11,500) round-trip ticket in the Suites Class.
It’s a tough job, but someone had to do it.
For now, we’re going to ignore the hotel-lobby-style bag drop-off, golden Willy Wonka-esque ticket and personal cabin for a moment and address the food.
Before Low even boarded the plane, he tucked into baked Boston lobster, foie gras, and quails' egg – not your average cheese sarnie while rushing through Gatwick.
Once on board, fizz and coffee (Jamaican blue mountain, no less) are on tap and a five-course dinner is the norm. From a caviar and lobster salad to vanilla bavarois, you can even pre-order your favourite meal.
Warning: a ride on a budget airline will never be the same again.
