It’s not just the kids that love the summer break. Here are nine reasons why mum loves it too

1. No morning rush to get them out the door

Trying to get the kids off to school each morning can be a stressful experience for mum. In the summer, it’s generally less hectic in the morning with hopefully more lie-ins that mum can enjoy too.

2. Technology breaks

While the kids are off from school, mum may be able to take time off from her work too. This is a great opportunity to enjoy technology breaks – an allotted period of the day with no computers or mobile phones in use. We don’t miss those emails.

3. Little adventures

Just like the kids, mum loves the simple pleasures that summer has to offer like frequent trips to the park, a browse around the farmer’s market or going on long walks. Summer is the time for the whole family to get to know their local area more.

4. Lighter dining

The weather outside is warmer so it’s a perfect time to indulge in lighter fare. Mum enjoys eating less heavy meals in the summer and serving her kids in season fruit during the summer months like cherries or strawberries.

5. Being outside

Summer is generally the only time of the year in the UK for spending the whole day outdoors. From dining al fresco, enjoying picnics or having a barbecue, mum loves this time too.

6. Craft lists

The warmer months are the time for mum to check things off that craft list. Whether she’s into knitting, painting or doing home DIY, summer is a great time to pick up new skills, try artistic crafts or simply work on that book reading list.

7. Getting away

Who doesn’t love a little holiday away from the family home? Whether it’s a countryside camping trip or a far-off location, mum and the kids equally enjoy the excitement of a summer destination.

8. No homework

School’s out and that means no nagging the kids to get their homework done for a blissful six weeks.

9. Quality time

With the kids home from school, it’s a great time for the family to just be together. Best of all, mum loves spending that extra time with her family and getting to know her kids more.
